There are rumors about the engine of some Nokia smartphone are the same this include the Nokia C7, N8, C6 and E7. Fortunately the Nokia’s C7 product manager confirms it saying:
“The C7 shares the same engine as the Nokia N8 and Nokia E7. They’re all exactly the same. Same hardware, same chipset, same clock speed, processor, absolutely everything. In terms of performance, there’s no compromise, they’re all running the same engines. The differences are in the way the peripherals are arranged between the devices. On the N8 for example we’ve got a 12MP camera with Xenon flash and so on, on the C7 we’ve got an 8MP camera with LED flash. On the N8 we’ve got 16GB of memory and on the C7 8GB of memory and both expandable through microSD cards.”
Three Nokia devices has the same Single ARM 11 CPU running at 680Mhz and a 2D/3D Graphics HW acceleration with OpenVG1.1 and OpenGL ES 2.0 support. It is all comes to one conclusion that, the three phone actually a same phone with different peripheral. This peripheral assigning attached according the price, position and use of the device.
The above chart containing comparison between the three devices differences. The feature is categorized in three part and marked by colors indicator Green is for Good, Yellow is for Neutral and Red is for Bad.
Dealing with input methods E7 is up front bringing a wide slide out 4-row QWERTY keyboard, but by the fact that the N8 brings Swype text input in it’s virtual keyboard making the competition tighter. However, we personally think that any input method yet could not match the convenience that a physical keyboard brings. The C7 in the other hand brings a new generation of haptic feed back; it works as if each key vibrated separately without affecting other areas to vibrate.
Going down to camera you cannot miss the 12 megapixel N8’s monster camera, though in a good light condition the other phone could take similar result quality, but when light is low the N8 camera will sweep all the phone camera off the table with its larger sensor and Xenon flash. The E7 and C7 also do not support auto focus as well as macro shots. Though all feature HD video recording but the N8 is way ahead with it’s stereo audio recording.
In storage section sadly the Nokia E7 is lack of external storage support and replaced by USB-On-The-Go feature. It is a cool feature that allows you to connect your E7 to a USB FD; however we guess that it could not replace the presence of memory card. On the other hand The E7 and C7 have a healthy 350MB user storage, compared to the low 135 for the N8.
Dealing with applications the E Series is focus on Business applications like QuickOffice Dynamic Premium and IBM Lotus Notes.
In connectivity and power, all devices have USB charging method as well as 2.0mm jack. The E7 do not equipped with FM transmitter though like the C7. But in C7 is quite understandable because the C7 is standing on the budget line. For the make up the C7 features the Nokia AV cable and many more things.
The N8 is equipped with Dolby Digital Plus, but since the device has not been launched yet, we cannot see how effective the result of the feature is. Nokia N8, in recording video will undergo up-mixing in audio quality from5.1 to 7.1 since the Nokia N8 only able to record stereo. That was it, how do you think? What will you choose then?
