Mr. Puppy over at symbian-freak.com had done his speaker test on Nokia 5800 XM and Nokia N97. The conclusion shows that Nokia 5800 XM speaker quality is better than Nokia N97. The further info can be read below.

It seems that Nokia N97 does not have almost entirely the bass line in its speaker. This result was gained by the guy when he played his track using the internal speaker of N97. However the headphones outputs are still brilliant. It is guessed that Nokia has tuned the N97 speaker for voice-call rather than music. The treble heavy result can boost the vocal.

Unlike the N97, Nokia 5800 XM can reproduce all the bass line include (according to Mr. Puppy) the “woo-woo” sound that audible. The speaker of Nokia N97 is not bad but it only does not have the same fidelity of Nokia 5800 XM’s.

Those speakers on the N97 have got a lot of crap – everyone says they’re too squeaky in their output. Little do they realise that the speakers are not designed for music.. nope, Nokia had other things in mind. But the headphones output is fan-flipping-tastic! I used my shp8500 neodym phones and i loved the sound.

I’ve put up my thoughts over here:
