Nokia 5800 & Nokia N97 Tips: Free PDF Reader

February 20, 2009 · Filed Under Freeware, Tips n Tricks

When you need a PDF reader for your Nokia 5800 or Nokia N97, Acrobat Reader LE is one of the best. Unforunately you must pay for it after the trial period is over. However there is a very good site at http://view.samurajdata.se/ that offer free online PDF reader. This site is an online viewer, with which you can view PDF and PostScript files as browsable images and Word documents as web pages. Given a URL on the net or a file on your computer, the viewer will try to retrieve the document, convert it and show it to you. No plugin software is required.

Try to use it for pdf-s in landscape mode because of zooming letters. So the tool is there, you can use it with Opera MINI or the internal browser too!

    @ Prem Vijay
Menu>>Apps>>Office>>File mgr>> look for the files in your Storage card directory.

Does anyone knows how I can uninstall the trial version Adobe PDF Reader in the N97?

I am also looking for a freeware version of PDF reader. Does anyone have a good recommendation?

Huh? why promote this crap “cloud” computing rubbish? yeah, u pay for Adobe acrobat LE ONCE, but the suggestion on this page is not acceptable as you need to connect to the internet in order to use it, thus, you are most likely charged for data transfer. What people want is a FREE alternative or workaround for LE.

  7. bitflung on August 20th, 2009 8:38 pm

man – for users of an ALWAYS CONNECTED device, people sure love to bitch and moan that they HAVE TO CONNECT to the internet to do something.

seriously. in mobile-phone-back-assward-usa i’ve got unlimited 3g for $15/month. OF COURSE i’m happy to use my data connection.

now, the only real issue i have with using this software-as-a-service-pdf-viewer is privacy: a lot of the pdfs i have to read are specs and data sheets for which i have had to sign NDAs. in this case, i doubt i could upload them to read them, even if the website doesn’t intend to compromise my data…

but common folks! go get a data plan already!
even when i was in serbia i had unlimited 3g on a monthly basis!

oh – and on the ‘free native pdf viewer’ side of things: i want this also. i’m happy to pay $15 for adobe acrobat le, but it seriously sucks. slow and clumsy and failing to use the full screen to the best potential. just like on windows and mac, the adobe branded product sucks. there are open source pdf readers that run under Qt on linux/mac/windows – i’m hopping someone can port these to S60 now with the Qt for S60 libraries close to maturity.

    hi!

THIS IS THE LINK THAT I USED TO DOWNLOAD THE PDF READER BUT, UNFORTUNATELY IT’S ONLY A TRIAL … AFTER 7 DAYS YOU NEED TO BUY IT, I KNOW IT’S RUBISH BUT IT’S STILL USEFULL “FOR THE MEAN TIME :(

  16. Anonumous on December 23rd, 2009 11:05 am

WTF man!! I am not able to see a single relevant post. Where is the link to free pdf reader for Nokia N97.

Sab gyan chodne main lage hain!!

  17. josh on January 3rd, 2010 6:17 am

Yeah, sorry to TS but that is really not a very helpful tip. Instead of paying for connecting on line to upload & read your pdf files, and suffer for intermittent disconnection, buy the licensed one. It’s wiser to do.

  18. r4i software on January 8th, 2010 6:34 am

    Hello all,
I am using nokia n73 and i am having adode pdf reader full version by default in it so i don’t need to buy..

  19. me on February 11th, 2010 10:02 am

WTF!…..Look, for the N97 there is no free adobe reader or flash player if you want it get a cracked copy or pay for it.

  20. Beasty on February 18th, 2010 10:55 am

Oh puhleeze, @bitflung. If you had NDAs on ANYTHING, your so called “company” would spring for the 15 dollars for the reader. I guess that you are waiting for the high school grad formal invites. I am wondering if anyone on the internet commenting on topics like this actually has any basis in reality.

    Yeah, this was disappointing.

Data usage in New Zealand is crippling, so this suggestion is just not feasible.
