There is no question that the clock speed of the N96′s main processor is slower than the N95′s. Some people also experiences very slow access on N96 like switch from a message in the inbox to replying to the message. But there is always some tips to make your Nokia N96 work faster:
- Always update your firmware! Nokia always improve their products performance by releasing newer and better firmware. On the latest Nokia N96 firmware, you will get faster , smoother and with less glitches of general operation, better camera and video funcionality (better focussing), and improved WiFi performance.
- Save your messages to phone memory. “Phone memory” is a lot faster than “mass memory” right now. Same thing with themes.
- Close all active applications when you don’t need it. Sure it will give a little boost performance.
- When your Nokia N96 going very very slow, you can try reset or format the phone. Make a backup before you doing this. To format the phone, you can do this by going to file mgr. > E: mass memory > options > format mass memory. Another way is to format the phone memory, in standby mode enter *#7370# then the security code (default is 12345). *NOTE* formating the phone memory will remove ALL personal data.
- Open the log app and set log duration to 1 day, doing this makes menus a touch faster (works with all s60 nokias).
- To make menus etc faster, go to settings > general > personalisation > themes > general
> options > theme effects and turn them off.
