Create Multiple eMail Accounts on Your Nseries Device
Yes, it is possible to have more than one email account running on your Nseries phone! You can put some email address like your work email address and private email in one device.
To start using your phone for email, you need to know what type of protocol standard is supported by your provider. POP and IMAP are the most common and provided by companies like Google or Yahoo, so I’ll cover those two first.
Regardless of your email provider, you will need to obtain email client settings from them. In all cases, your settings will include:
An incoming mail server
An outgoing mail server
A username and a password
Google your provider and the words “email settings” to find out the particular settings you’ll need. If your provider has special security options, write those down as well.
To configure your first account, go to Messaging>Options>Settings>Email>Mailboxes. You’ll then be asked if you want to define an account and the Mailbox Wizard will begin.
To configure an IMAP account, here’s what you’ll need to do. (Remember, we’re only using Gmail as an example; if you’re not using Gmail, check with your provider for your settings.)
1. Select IMAP4 and then Next.
2. Enter your email address and then Next.
3. Enter imap.gmail.com as the incoming mail server and then Next.
4. Enter smtp.gmail.com as the outgoing mail server and then Next.
5. Select the appropriate access point and then Next.
6. Enter a descriptive name (Gmail) for the email account mailbox name.
7. Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.
8. Select Connection settings>Incoming e-mail.
9. Enter your Gmail username (including “@gmail.com”) and password.
10. Select SSL/TLS for your security ports and set it to 993.
11. Select Back.
12. Select Outgoing e-mail.
13. Enter your Gmail username - including @gmail.com - and password.
14. Select StartTLS for your security ports and set it to 587 and then Back.
15. Select Automatic retrieval if you want your phone to get your emails automatically, otherwise you’re done configuring your first account.
Now that we have our first account, let’s configure a second one by going to Messaging>Options>Settings>Email>Mailboxes>Options>New Mailbox.
You’ll now be back to the Mailbox Wizard we used earlier. This time, instead of an IMAP account, we’ll configure a POP account (Yahoo).
1. Select POP and then Next.
2. Enter your email address and then Next.
3. Enter pop.yahoo.com as the incoming mail server and then Next.
4. Enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com as the outgoing mail server and then Next.
5. Select the appropriate access point and then Next.
6. Enter a descriptive name (Yahoo) for the email account mailbox name.
7. Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.
8. Select Connection settings>Incoming e-mail.
9. Enter your Yahoo username - including “@yahoo.com” - and password.
10. Select SSL/TLS for your security ports and set it to 995.
11. Select Back.
12. Select Outgoing e-mail.
13. Enter your Yahoo username - including “@yahoo.com” - and password.
14. Select SSL/TLS for your security ports and set it to 465 and then Back.
15. Select Automatic retrieval if you want your phone to get your emails automatically, otherwise you’re now done with your second account.
Now that the accounts have been configured, go to Messaging>”Descriptive name of your email account used during the configuration”>Connect or Create Message. Or if you just want to view all your messages from both accounts, go to Messaging>Inbox.
