Congratulations for every Nokia N78 owner. You have amazing phone with great performance. To maximize your phone, here some basic tips:
Check Phone Life Time
To check the life-time of your phone (the total amount of time the device has been used to call) and find out that your phone is really brand new:
- Go to the main screen or desk by pressing the red, end call button
- Type *#92702689#
Long Battery Life
- Charge your devices battery 10-14 hours at the first time, after you buy it.
- Always charge your device switched off if possible. This makes the charging time shorter and helps the battery to “calibrate”.
- Start charging when battery is almost or totally exhausted.
- Finish charging only when the battery is full.
These rules are increasing time between the charges and increasing battery lifetime as well but may not be useful for Ultra Mobile Computers (UMC).
Software version
- Go to the main screen or stand by screen.
- Type this: *#0000#
Show IMEI number
- Go to the main screen or stand by screen.
- Type this: *#06#
FM transmitter
- To play a song stored in your device through a compatible FM receiver, do the following:
- Press Menu key, and select Music > Music player.
- Select a song or a playlist to be played and, in the Now playing view, select Options > FM transmitter.
- To activate the FM transmitter, set FM transmitter to On, and enter a frequency that is free from other transmissions.
- Tune the receiving device to the same frequency, and select Options > Exit.
Check satellite signal status
To check how many satellites your device has found, and whether your device is receiving satellite signals, press Menu key, and select Tools > Connectivity > GPS data > Position > Options > Satellite status. Or, in the Maps application, select Options > Map options > Satellite info.
Enable GPS
To enable or disable different positioning methods, such as Bluetooth GPS, press Menu key, and select Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods.
Geographic location
To activate tagging in Camera, select Options > Settings > Record location > Yes.
Landmark
Press Menu key, and select Tools > Connectivity > Landmarks. Select Options > New landmark. To make a positioning request for your current location, select Current position.
Voila!

Same as fiba’s comment:
March 8, 2009, 4:53 pmrt. side loudspeaker is not working. . . and I think this makes the speakerphone not work too, but only if I choose ‘speakerphone’ AFTER the call is connected. If i choose ‘loudspeaker’ or ‘speakerphone’ BEFORE the call is connected, sound does come out fine, but only through the left speaker. ARE THESE 2 PROBLEMS RELATED? thanks.
