Nseries: 15 Questions Related

June 28, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Nseries always attract people to learn more and more about this handset series from Nokia. And some people put their questions on their blog. One of them is Devin Balentina on thenokiaguide.com. So, does anyone have the answers for these questions?

1. If the Eseries stands for Enterprise, than what does the “Nseries” stand for?

2. Why doesn’t the Nseries include USB charging?

3. Why wasn’t Nokia able to make a stylish and feature packed phone (N76 doesn’t count)?

4. Why does the N95 8GB with no upgradeable memory, exposed camera and lower Image Quality (when compared the N95) is considered an upgrade?

Nokia Buy Symbian!

June 25, 2008 · Filed Under News · Comment

This is HUGE! Nokia, number one phone maker has been using Symbian for many, many of their phones. They make Symbian as the world’s most populous smartphone platform. Recently, they have about 47, 9 percent of Symbian share. But that’s not enough, so Nokia announcing that they’ll be acquiring the remaining shares of Symbian that they don’t already own to fully control the Symbian operating system.

Other Symbian Foundation members include Texas Instruments, Vodafone, Samsung, LG, and AT&T (yep, the same AT&T that currently sells precisely one Symbian-based phone), so things could get interesting. The move clearly seems to be a preemptive strike against Google’s Open Handset Alliance, LiMo, and other collaborative efforts forming around the globe with the goal of standardizing smartphone operating systems; the writing was on the wall, and Symbian didn’t want to miss the train. Total cash outlay for the move will run Nokia roughly €264 million — about $410 million in yankee currency.

New Nokia Patent

June 21, 2008 · Filed Under Innovations · Comment

This new Nokia patent must be one of the weirdest cellphone patents recently. How this crazy phone exactly works? As you can see in the picture above, this concept employs something called a Jacobs Ladder flipping hinge arrangement. The interesting thing is that piece of movable material (called the ribbon in the patent) that you see in between the screen and the keypad. According to the patent, the phone will have two User Interfaces, depending on the position of the ribbon. In the first position, the device acts like a phone while in the secod position, it reveals a camera module (placed on the back) and the UI changes to one suited for operating a camera.

Nokia Bluetooth BH-703: A Comfort Design

June 21, 2008 · Filed Under Accessories, Review · Comment

Once again I want to express my gratitude for WOMworld that lend me the trial pre-sales version of BH-703 Bluetooth headset

Up until now I am using the Bluetooth Nokia BH-208. If we compared the size of the new BH-703 and my bluetooth, the BH-703 is longer and slimmer than mine. Another thing is the BH-703 has a minimalist design with a glossy black finish and silver/chrome outline that make this Bluetooth headset has a cool looks.

A Stunning diamond-studded edition of Nokia’s 8800

June 8, 2008 · Filed Under New Phones · Comment

Nokia 8800 diamond

It is Thomas Heyerdahl who came up with putting luxury on Nokia 8800. This fellow has crafted a version of the handset laced with 112 authentic diamonds, and it’s said that only 100 of the coveted (and individually numbered) mobiles will be made available. We’ll find 0.7 carats of United Nations-approved diamonds per phone, and while the bulk of these things will be sold in select outlets for 30,000 Norwegian kroner ($5,933), the first launch is set to be auctioned for charity to the highest bidder. Be prepared, Ladies and Gents!

How Nokia Comes up with a Design

June 8, 2008 · Filed Under News, Review · Comment

After attending the first open-house of Nokia Design Center in Soho, London, 3g Week’s journalists have something to share with. According to them, Nokia’s designs always come from complicated processes: “We usually think of design as a process in which the properties of a physical object, such as the shape and size, are determined … [but] it is not that simple. Younghee Joung, Nokia’s Senior Design Manager, explained that cellphone design involves much more than just choosing and cutting the different components and then knitting them together.” (3 g Week)

Sexy Nokia N78 Hands On

Nokia N78 review

Well, is there any reason not to call it ‘sexy’ when everybody wants to ‘taste’ it? A full-fledged, unlocked 3.5G, Nokia brings out its new maps 2.0 app, along with photo geo-tagging; and of course all those N-series trimmings like WiFi and dual cameras. Although there’s no N-Gage support yet, a firmware update is forthcoming. Also, Nokia certainly has some interface kinks as troubleshooting devices for the new technologies.
