The slimline Nokia 6212 classic
The Nokia 6212 classic was launched at the present. Include with integrated Near Field Communication (NFC), destined to become standard technology in all mobile phones. Completely new usage possibilities will be opened for mobiles with the Near Field Communication (NFC). Two NFC chips touching together can exchange uncomplicated data, and will allow one to purchase train tickets, play music and videos from one mobile to another, and receive background information from advertisement posters. Connecting to other Bluetooth capable devices, such as the Nokia BH-210 NFC capable headset, merely by touching the two together is also possible.
Nokia included well known classic features in their phone, in addition to the new communications technology. A FM receiver, 240 x 320 pixel display, and a player for MP3, AAC and WMA are all on board, as well as a second camera for video conferencing. An email client and Opera browser for surfing online are also included. The software has to content itself with 22 MB of internal memory, although this can be expanded up to 4 GB through Micro SD cards.
The Nokia 6212 communicates in the GSM network at 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 megahertz, and supports Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, and UMTS. The battery lasts for 2.5 hours while speaking over UMTS, and 3.5 hours via GSM. In standby mode the battery lasts up to 12 days. The Nokia 6212 classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2008 in select markets in Europe and Asia with an estimated retail price of EUR 200 before taxes and subsidies.
